I had a really rough week last week. There is nothing more miserable than being almost 8 months pregnant when it is 100+ degrees outside. Well last week I learned that it can be more miserable. I have been trying to fight off this upper respiratory virus that has been going around for about 2 weeks. I have been just ignoring it and kept on doing just as much as I normally do. Last week on Monday I started to feel awful. I have been fighting not taking anything, because it is best to try not to take anything for the baby. I had to break down Monday and call my doctor to ask what I could take. She gave me a list of over the counter meds, and told me to call her if I was not feeling any better in the next couple days. Tuesday I had a super busy work day, and by the end of the day I felt even worse but thought it was from over doing it at work. Wednesday I woke up and felt the worst I have ever felt in my life. I continued to just take the over the counter Robitussin, and went on to my appointments for work. By the time I got home I literally thought I was dying. I went and took a nap while Dustin was mowing the yard. I woke up and had the chills, and I was super dizzy. I went and took my temperature and it was almost 101. I think I was running fever all day, and never thought to take my temperature. Since the doctor was closed I had to call the emergency line and wait for the on call doctor to call me back. She called me back and said to take Tylenol and she was going to call in an antibiotic. What happened is my body could not fight off the virus and it turned into an upper respiratory infection and sinus infection. Now they were worried because of all the fluid build up in my chest. Thursday I did not work and just stayed home to rest. I had a mild fever that morning, and started to feel better. After the morning I did not have a fever for the rest of the day. Friday I woke up feeling fine. No fever. Dustin and I were headed to Lufkin for the weekend for Ashley's bridal shower. That afternoon we headed to Lufkin. Later that night I started to run a high fever again! We called the on call doctor again, and they changed the medication. You can only take certain drugs safe for you and the baby, so they just had to find the one that would fight the infection. Finally it worked. Saturday I woke up feeling great! I did not sound great, and my cough defiantly didn't sound great. We went to Ashley's shower, and man she came out like a champ! She got so much great stuff! I am in love with her pottery. Wish I would have remembered the camera! Christa got some great pictures, so I will just borrow hers as soon as she posts them on facebook. We hung out and cooked fajitas with the family on Saturday evening. It was a very relaxing weekend, which is what I needed.
Monday I had my glucose test and 29 week appointment. I passed my glucose test with flying colors! That drink though was so gross! Seriously they can't come up with something better than that syrup drink? She also was going to check me and the baby out since I have been so sick. Kaylee's heartbeat was perfect, but she did not like the sound in my chest when I was breathing. I had so much fluid build up it really worried the doctor. She told me to finish my medication, and if it got any worse that I would have to go to a specialist. She also advised me to take it easy for the next couple of days and rest. Thankfully the medication worked, and today I can actually breath with out the sound of fluid rumbling around.
This weekend is my baby shower, and I am so excited. I know all the ladies will do a wonderful job, they are the best! I will remember my camera for this one. I will also try to take an updated picture of the nursery. Dustin and I worked on it yesterday. It is hard to believe that on Friday I will be 30 weeks! Only 10 more weeks...hopefully less!! It has gone by so fast!
I also TOTALLY forgot to register for all the wonderful birthing classes. Basically I waited way to long and everything is booked. I will be the lady in the birthing class who could literally go into labor in the class....whoops...I know Dustin is also SUPER thrilled about the breast feeding class. HAHA!
