The Almighty Fisherman

This past weekend Dustin fished in a tournament with my Dad, his friend Don, and Reagan. I am sure Reagan was totally in awe, because you never know what is going to come out of my Dad's mouth. He also never shuts his mouth....EVER. The Caney Creek Tournament started in Matagorda on Saturday morning and ran through Sunday at noon. They woke up super early Saturday, and my Dad took them to all his secret spots to wade fish. He was exhausted when he got home, but had a blast! Sunday was the weigh in and the truth was told on how they did. Saturday my Dad caught a 26 inch Red fish, Dustin caught at 24 inch Red, and Reagan a 22 inch Red. Sunday morning Dustin caught a big trout! My dad thought he was going to win the tournament with it. In case you were all wondering big trout are really hard to catch. Why? I don't know, I will ask my Dad when he gets back from Europe. That is just what the ol' wise Bubba told me. At the weigh in my Dad came in a close 3rd with this Red Fish, but the pay out was only on the top 2 Red Fish. Better luck next time Bubba...I am still proud of you. Dustin actually won 2nd with his trout, and almost had 1st place. I am so proud of him! He also got a big payout, and a plaque. I as more excited about the cash then the plaque.ha! Below is a picture of the fisherman with his red fish and winning trout:

Here is a picture of some of the fish they caught. The rest Dustin had already filleted.

I stayed in Katy, and went shopping with my Mom. We went to Homegoods and got more stuff for Kaylee's room. I haven't put any of it up yet, but will post pictures when we get around to it. I also had MORE emotional breakdowns this weekend....imagine that. Dustin called Sunday morning and I was all pissy. He asked what was wrong and my response "I don't get to have any fun.". He asked, "what would you like to do". My response, "Drink and ride on a boat". You know because there are so many Sunday mornings that I am sipping on a alcoholic beverage while riding on a boat. I am such a mess these days!!!!!!

Happy 28th Birthday Dustin!

On June 3rd Dustin turned 28! We decided since we have not been to Pipe Creek for awhile we would head to the hill country to celebrate the big 2-8. Friday afternoon Dustin and I headed to our favorite "get away" for some R&R. We got there around 6pm, and got things unloaded. Trigger LOVES going to Pipe Creek. He has 106 acres of freedom to run and eat an abundant amount of deer poop. A vizsla's dream. Sometimes we even catch him eating out of the deer protein feeder. He is crazy...we all know. Friday Dustin and I headed into town to get some dinner at our favorite mexican food place El Rio, and Wal-mart (not a favorite) for some pool shock. My Mom has the worst pool guy in pool history. It is a saline pool which is supposed to be less maintenance...when you have a somewhat good pool guy. We got there, and there was algae in the pool. Our pool guy decided to take a two week trip to Alaska to fish. Not that he took care of the pool anyways. It is usually green when we arrive, and he ALWAYS has an excuse why he hasn't come to clean it. ANNOYING. Anyways, we went home and shocked and cleaned the pool up.

Saturday Dustin woke up at the crack of dawn as usual, and Millie followed so she could eat breakfast. Trigger usually sleeps in any other day, unless he is in Pipe Creek. He was up and outside by 6:30am, and did not come in till we came in that evening. Dustin and Trigger went on an RTV ride while Millie and I snoozed. Dustin came back in the house cracking up when they got back. Apparently they rode down to the creek and Trigger bailed off the RTV and down into the creek. By the time Dustin got down there he was in the middle of the creek slapping the top of a turtles shell. I wish I could have seen this. Poor turtle! He came out of the creek after the turtle went for deeper water. My parents and Mrs. Collins came around noon, and we all hung out by the pool for the rest of the afternoon. I wanted to lay out on the float, but Trigger was hogging it the whole time. Here is a picture of him and Dustin floating in the pool:

Millie rested under a shade tree by the pool like a normal dog. My sister and her crew of boys came later that afternoon, and we all went out to eat for Dustin's birthday. We went to George Strait's Restaurant; Scenic Loop Cafe. They have a great patio, a live band, and awesome food. We had a nice relaxing weekend. Trigger (who did not relax) has been sleeping for 3 days straight.

Emotional Breakdowns...

I am one hot sloppy mess these days. It seems like one emotional breakdown after another. I can cry at anything...and I mean EVERYTHING. It all started the Monday night of Memorial Day weekend. I couldn’t sleep...thanks to my wonderful hormones. The only thing I could find on TV to watch was Toy Story 3. It is actually a really cute kid’s movie. I was very intrigued through the whole thing. Especially towards the end when I was hysterically crying. I am talking like snot bubbles/can't breathe crying. This is absolutely ridiculous people. A 27 year old woman should not be sobbing to a kid’s movie. I was crying so hard it woke up Dustin. He was startled and asked "why are you crying." I said “This movie is so sad". He says "Is that Toy Story? Are you crying to a cartoon?" I reply "Yes! Andy had to give away his toys when he went to college". See ridiculous...obviously this was the hormones kicking in. This was only the beginning...

First off, I know that I am very blessed with a healthy baby, and being able to get pregnant so easy. I realize this, but until you go through a pregnancy yourself you have no idea! I am very thankful for a healthy baby. I however, have had a super hard time with a lot of these wonderful pregnancy symptoms. Number one being the weight gain. When I was in my senior year in high school I lost 30 pounds on weight watchers. I have since then always watched what I was eating, and have been very self conscious about gaining weight. Of course I yo-yoed a lot through college, but have always seemed to get right back on track to my "goal weight". I am having a super hard time with the pregnancy weight gain. Yes I know I need to gain weight for the baby, and when she is born I can diet again. It is just so hard to get on the scale and see the numbers constantly go up. I am having a super hard time with this. Second, I am literally going bald. My hair comes out in chunks in the shower some times. Really gross! I have several bald spots on my, and I bought a special shampoo and have not noticed a difference yet. The third thing is my constant acne. It has not gone away, and is now scaring my face. When one zit leaves 4 or 5 replace it. Also, really gross! All of this with my lovely raging pregnancy hormones made me have an emotional breakdown that Tuesday. I must have cried every hour that I was awake that day. I had ton of problems at work, nothing was going right. I was way past my breaking point. I was super depressed and one huge hot sloppy mess. I called my doctor hoping for some kind of help with the acne and hair loss. Her reply was "Well unfortunately for a small percentage of pregnant women their hormones never stabilize, and they have constant acne with their hair falling out. This only happens to a small percentage of women though". Cool, but I don't care that it is a small percentage of women....it’s happening to ME. So basically I got shot down for any type of topical ointment for my face...which was followed by another emotional breakdown. Poor Dustin had to leave the house when he got home. I was such a wreck...I wouldn't want to hang out with me either.

The good news is that Wednesday I felt much better. I had lunch with my Mom and Brent, and went for some "retail therapy" after. My wonderful Mom knew exactly what I needed....A couple hours at T.J. Maxx! When I came home to these beautiful flowers from my amazing husband:

Who else would put up with this crazy, emotional, sloppy hot mess, and pregnant lady!

Nursery Update!

Happy Memorial Day! Thanks to all the men and women who serve/served in our armed forces, so that we can live in this great country!

This weekend Dustin and Charlie (my sister's husband or our brother-in-law) went fishing in Port O'Connor. Since Dustin and I wanted to go to Ty's game on Friday, he got up super early on Saturday to go meet Charlie at the boat dock. He said it was super windy so all they could do is wade fish, but they had a blast. He showed Dustin around, and taught him all about the boat. Dustin even caught a big redfish! I stayed here in Katy, because when you are pregnant you can't do anything...seriously you can't do anything! Getting on a boat is one of the biggest no, No's and it makes me really sad. My sister came in town with the boys so I went to my parents to play with my nephews. Bear and Ryder are so different! Ryder did the funniest thing too. Courtney was nursing Bear and Ryder took his Elmo doll and pulled up his shirt, and sat next to her "nursing" his Elmo. He kept saying "Elmo is hungry". He even took the boppy and put it around his waist. I was cracking up laughing. It just amazes me how much their little minds absorb at 2 years. We also took Ryder to the water park by my Mom's house while Bear napped. WOW that was exhausting. He was "that kid" at the pool. The one that ran around like a crazy, and was climbing up the slide the wrong way while the lifeguard pulled him down. My sister sure does have her hands full!

Today Dustin and I ran some errands, and worked in Kaylee's room. Here are a couple pictures of all the things we hung up today:

We hung the letters above the crib, and put the framed pictures I took of the bedding next to it. I couldn't figure out what to put next to the letters, so I took pictures of the bedding and framed them in some frames I found at Michael's on clearance. I think it turned out pretty cute! Big thanks to my Mother-in-law for buying our super cute bedding, and my Mom for getting us the crib too:

We hung the valance and put up the cork board. I took the advice and found some matching pink and brown damask fabric and backed the cork board with it. Much better!

I took the stars from our livingroom and put them above the bookself. Thanks to my great job we also have a ton of baby books and toys that were FREE:

Christa made us this super cute canvas with Kaylee's name to match the room. We hung it right when you walk in...Thanks so much Christa! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT:

Pictures

So Kaylee is getting bigger....and so am I! She is very active...pretty much all the time. I wish she could burn calories for me. Ha. If so I am pretty sure I would be losing weight with all the aerobics she does in my belly all the time. We went to the doctor on Monday, and had our final ultrasound. Everything is measuring exactly on point to her weeks, and they confirmed once again that it is for sure a girl. I made it a point this time to not have any kind of sugar to see if she was as active this ultrasound as she was the last ultrasound. Once again she moved, squirmed, kicked her legs, and threw her arms around. She is just one active little girl. They could not get very many good pictures, because she did not want to sit still long enough for them to get shots. Here is one good one they got of her profile:

Here is a picture of me at almost 22 weeks. See I am huge! Notice the lack of clothing as well. I get very hot way to easy. It is going to be a long hot summer!

Cubs Baseball and The Crawfish Boil

Friday night Dustin and I went to my baby cousin's baseball game. Ty is the youngest of all of the cousins on my Mom's side. I have a close connection with the Schlottmann boys because we all grew up together here in Katy. Clay and I were best friends when we were younger, and did everything together. We even had a frog club...please try to hold back you’re jealously. I babysat Ty and Clay both, and it was an adventure every time. One time Clay even put his head threw the wall...I don't remember all the details, but it was a very dramatic babysitting experience. Anyways my point being I can't believe that Ty is about to graduate high school, and I am so proud of him. It seems like yesterday that Courtney and I were giving him swimming lessons and changing his diaper. He is a really great athlete; being the starting quarterback and starting pitcher for the Brenham Cubs. He will be attending A&M in the fall on a baseball scholarship, and I am so thrilled! The Cubs won state in baseball last year, and are in the playoffs again right now. They won both best 2 out of three games this week so it is on to the next round. Ty even had a homerun in the game on Friday helping the Cubs to a win!

Our Co-hosts the Weisingers came in Friday so we could get things together for the annual crawfish boil on Saturday. It was a lot of fun, and I am exhausted today. I am so glad Brittany is pregnant as well, because I needed some sober sanity among all the drunk people. We barley even had any crawfish leftover. They were delish! Brittany and I made several dips, and all of the other ladies brought something as well. Dustin and I having been cleaning up today, but still haven't finished. We took several breaks today for naps! Hopefully I can finish up the inside tomorrow. It was a lot of fun, and I hope that we can still continue to have one next year with Miss Kaylee being here.

Tomorrow we have our 20 week appointment, and last ultrasound. I am 21 weeks now and still feeling really good. I am starting to get tired a lot faster now that I am approaching the 6 months mark. She is very active, and has started waking me up a couple nights with her ninja kicks at 3am. My hair is also falling out! I went to my hair dresser on Friday, and she said it is because the pregnancy is really drying out my hair. I bought a deep conditioner that she would like me to use every 2 weeks. Hopefully this solves the problem. I really don't want to be the bald and zitty pregnant lady. I am hoping to do more work on the nursery this coming weekend. Dustin said that we can do whatever I want to do this weekend, since he has had his fare share of fun these past 2 weekends. I have to say that I think I have been a pretty good sport about it too!

Trigger vs. the Grackle...Happy Mother's Day

This dog seriously NEVER seems to surprise me. This Saturday we left the house at 6am to head to Lufkin for the day for Mother's Day. We decided just to drop the dogs off at my Mom and Dad's for a day with Mimi and Uncle Bub.

At about 7:30am my Mom calls me laughing. She is laughing so hard she can barely get the story out. As we all know Trigger has had an issue with a skunk at my Mom's house in the past. This time he had a new friend. My Mom said she let him and Millie in the backyard and she was sitting in the living room. She looked out the windows and saw a swarm of birds swooping down and pecking at Trigger. Of course he was just looking around at them like his normal tard self. After further investigation Mom found he had found a baby Grackle bird in the backyard. Mommy bird and her friends decided to attack the crazy dog. He was just smelling the baby bird, or maybe even picked it up. Seriously there is no telling with this dog what really went on! She said Millie was just sitting by the door scared, as the 10-15 Grackles attacked Trigger. I am sure he thought of this as more of a game, then an attack. Of course he was just looking up at them, most likely thinking "oh look friends". My Mom said then a swarm of Grackles perched in the trees and sat there all afternoon waiting for Trigger to come back out. He had to go to the bathroom in the front yard for the rest of the afternoon. I have a visual of this in my head and I laugh every time I think about it. I wish she could have got this on camera!

Dustin and I both had a wonderful time in Lufkin! Dustin and Dennis went to the deer lease to clean up some of the fallen trees from the last bad storm that came through, and put out protein feed for the deer. Phyllis and I went to Nacogdoches to meet Pam, Whitney, and Tonya at a really great baby boutique. Again, Kaylee came out like a champ. She got so many cute things that of course she could not LIVE without. I also got some really cute new flip flops from my wonderful Mother-in-Law for Mother's Day. We had a great day of shopping! We met the men back at the house before we headed to Shrimp Boat Mannie's in Livingston for dinner. It was a long, but super fun day!

Tomorrow Dustin and I head to Weimar for Mother's Day and Popo's 86th Birthday. The Reeve family is also going to make an appearance. Dustin has not had a chance to meet baby Bear yet so he is pretty excited.

Happy Mother's Day to all the lovely and loving Mommies out there!!!
